Windows to the World FAQs

General

Windows to the World is a unique celebration of international culture where participating embassies and high commissions open their doors to the public. Expect guided tours, cultural displays, performances, food stalls, and a chance to learn about different countries, all in one weekend. This event is a family friendly event and all are welcome.  

Windows to the World will take place over Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October 2025, with venues open from 10:00am to 4:00pm each day. 
 
Additionally, a special showcase featuring a selection of participating embassies will be held at  Floriade on Saturday 11 October 2025.

This is a free event.  However, registration is required to visit each participating venue.  You can find tickets for each location here

You need to register to receive entry tickets for each embassy or venue you wish to visit. This helps manage capacity and ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all. 

Each venue’s ticket is open and can be used at any time during the hours of 10:00am – 4:00pm.

No, all venues require pre-registering. Walk-ins are not permitted due to security and capacity limits.

Yes, you can register online via the Windows to the World website or via the QR codes posted out the front of each venue.

Yes, some venues may note special conditions of entry. These will be listed on the website and registration pages.  Conditions may include requiring identification or not allowing bags on site.

Registration is through the Trybooking system, and you can contact the Event Organiser via the Support tab on the ticket page if you have any issues. We will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can.  

Yes, toilets will be available at most venues. Please check the Embassies ticketing page for confirmation.

Windows to the World 2025 Shuttle Bus Map

Lost property can be handed in or collected at the Information Marquee during the event weekend.  

You can enquire about lost property following the event by emailing events@act.gov.au by 10 November 2025. Any items not claimed by this time will be donated to charity or disposed of. 

In the event of adverse weather conditions, some events may be modified or cancelled. Any updates will be communicated via the Events ACT Facebook page and the Windows to the World website.

Please note that if an event is cancelled, it will not be rescheduled due to the nature of the program. 

The event Information Marquee is located on the corner of Arkana Street and Turrana Street, Yarralumla. It will be open from 10am to 4pm on both days and staffed by friendly volunteers, who can assist with any questions or event-related services. 

In case of an emergency, alert event staff or security personnel immediately. First aid services will be available at the corner of Turrana & Arkana streets and emergency procedures will be in place. 

Getting around the Embassies

Yes, a free shuttle bus will operate on a  loop between participating venues.  The shuttle bus will operate from 9:30am and the last bus will be at 4:30pm. 

There are 2 shuttle bus route options on Saturday (Yarralumla 1 and Yarralumla 2) and one shuttle bus route on Sunday (O’Malley loop).    

Yarralumla Bus Route 1 (SATURDAY 18)
From 9:30am a dedicated shuttle bus will run in a loop every 20 minutes, from:

  • (1) Langton Cres bus stop
  • (2) Coronation Dr
  • (3) Forster Cres, Bus stop on Forster Cres near Empire Crt
  • (4) Empire Crt, Bus stop on Empire Crt near Embassy of Mexico
  • (5) Arkana Crt
  • (6) Wonna St, the main Windows to the World Bus stop 
  • The shuttle will then return to Stop (1) Langton Cres bus stop

The last shuttle bus will be at 4:30pm from Stop (1) Langton Cres bus stop

Yarralumla Bus Route 2 (SATURDAY 18)
From 9:30am a dedicated shuttle bus will run in a loop every 20 minutes, from:

  • (1) Wonna St, the main Windows to the World Bus stop 
  • (2) Turrana St
  • (3) Moonah Pl
  • (4) Pert Ave
  • (5) State Circle
  • (6) Adelaide Ave
  • (7) Carruthers St
  • (8) Denison St, Bus top outside High Commission of the Republic of Botswana
  • (9) Denison St, Bus stop outside King Swim
  • The shuttle will then return to Stop (1) Wonna St, via Adelaide Avenue

The last shuttle bus will be at 4:30pm from Stop (1) Wonna St, via Adelaide Avenue


O'Malley loop (SUNDAY 19)
From 9:30am a dedicated shuttle bus will run in a loop every 15 minutes, from:

  • (1) The corner of Numeralla Street and Pindari Cres
  • (2) Kareelah Vista, Bus Stop near Embassy of Georgia
  • (3) Culgoa Cct, Bus stop outside High Commission of Malta
  • (4) Callemonda Rise
  • (5) Akame Cct
  • (6) Dalman Cres, Bus stop after roundabout
  • (7) Culgoa Cct
  • (8) Bulwarra Cl, Bus stop half way down the street
  • (9) Culgoa Cct
  • (10) Kareelah Vista
  • (11) Numeralla St
  • (12) Pindari Cres

The last shuttle bus will be at 4:30pm from Stop (1) The corner of Numeralla Street and Pindari Cres

Please note that Embassy of The Republic of Peru and Embassy of the Republic of Guatemala are located in Barton, outside of the free shuttle bus loop. Parking in Barton is avaiable, and can be found on the National Captial Authority Website here. For public transport routes to and from Barton, you can plan your journey here

Please note that Embassy of The Republic of Peru and Embassy of the Republic of Guatemala are located in Barton, outside of the free shuttle bus loop. Parking is limited near most venues. If you are driving, we recommend you park in proximity to the shuttle bus stop indicated on the Shuttle bus map (coming soon).  If you park in a NCA parking area, parking on weekends is free.  

The carparks closest to shuttle bus stops are - 

  • Yarralumla: Langton Cres Carpark, King Edward Terrace Car Park, Hyatt hotel Car Park, Newlands Street Car Park, Queen Victoria Terrace Car Park, Questacon Car Park. 
  • Deakin: King Street Car Park, Woden Special School Car Park, Alfred Deakin Car Park. 
  • O'Malley: Pindari Cre Carpark 

Yes, cycling and walking are encouraged where safe and practical. However, please be aware that some venues are spread out, and shuttle buses are the most efficient means of travelling between multiple locations.  

Bicycles may be left at each venue, though please note that there are no designated bike parking areas and locks are not provided.   

The closest public bus stop is either Commonwealth Av opposite Albert Hall or  Langton Cres  to access the free Windows to the World shuttle bus.  Plan your public transport journey here

Accessibility

Accessibility varies at each venue. Please check individual Embassy details when registering.

Accessible toilets will be available at most venues. Please check the Embassies ticketing page for confirmation.  

Yes, all shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible. If you require additional assistance, please contact the event team in advance. 

Yes, assistance can be arranged. Please contact the event organisers 

Food & Drinks

Yes, many venues will offer a variety of food options for purchase.  Availability may vary, so check individual venue listings for details.

Some venues will have water refill stations. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle.

Alcohol may be available for purchase at some embassy venues, depending on their individual offerings and licensing arrangements. 
Please note: 

  • Consumption is only permitted within designated areas at participating venues. 

  • No BYO alcohol is allowed. 

  • Visitors must be 18 years or older to purchase or consume alcohol—ID may be required. 

  • Responsible service of alcohol practices will be in place. 

Photography & Media

Photography is allowed at most venues, but some may have restrictions. Please respect signage and staff instructions. 

Yes, official photographers may be present. By attending, you may be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes. 

Sustainability

Yes! We encourage sustainable practices such as using public transport, bringing reusable water bottles, and disposing of waste responsibly.

Absolutely. We encourage all visitors to bring reusable items to help reduce waste. 

Safety & Security

Yes, some venues may conduct bag checks or require ID for entry. Any security checks are noted on the Embassies ticketing page.  

Prohibited items include large bags, alcohol, weapons, drones, and any items deemed unsafe by venue security. Any notable requirements are listed on the Embassies ticketing page.
